A Collection of Documentary Photographs by North Eastern Ohio Photographers

 

Mission Statement:

The Michael Schwartz Library at Cleveland State University and the Cleveland Photographic Workshop will collaborate in the formation of a collection and archive of documentary photographs by regional photographers on and around North Eastern Ohio. The collection will be housed in the Cleveland State University Special Collections for digital and print access by the general public.

 

Documentary Photograph Definition: A documentary photograph is picture of a person, place, thing or event; taken in situ and not manipulated by the photographer (other than minor digital corrections). A documentary photograph chronicles individuals, objects or events from daily life which may have personal or historical significance to the photographer or to North East Ohio.

 

Methodology:

The Cleveland Photographic Workshop (CPW) will put out a Call for Entries to regional photographers. Photographers will be invited to submit up to three images for inclusion in this collection. Images may be individual in nature, or form a three-part story. Images will be reviewed by the CPW who will select an image or images for inclusion in the collection.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:

Submit your documentary photographs with the subject line CSU IMAGE SUBMISSION to: [email protected]

All participants must include: Name. Address. Phone. Email. Social media account name etc. (if any).

All digital files must include: Name (as you want to be credited) and title of each image.

A SHORT (3 to 5 sentences) description of the image, including where and why it was taken.

You MUST include a JPG with every submission (minimum 300 DPI). Submissions that are received that do not have these accompanying files will not be considered.

All prints must be made from the original file.

 

Accepted Photographs:

Photographs accepted to the collection will be printed by the photographer, OR under his/her direction.

Prints may be any size, but must be printed on paper or substrata no larger than 11 x 14.

ALL prints must be 2 dimensional.

 

COPYRIGHT:

The copyright of the image remains with the photographer.

The photographer acknowledges that his/her image may be published or promoted by CSU or the CPW for their use in conjunction to the project. Credit will be given to the photographer whenever published.

The photographer agrees that their image may be used or distributed by the Cleveland Memory Project to the campus of CSU for NON-COMMERCIAL USAGE. Any requests for commercial usage will be forwarded directly the photographer from the enquiring organization.

The photographers agree to give Cleveland State University Library an irrevocable, permanent license to: copy, preserve, use for research and education and to share non-commercial resolution versions of their image on the Web.

 

An Official Project Participant Logo will be issued for your media profile by CSU and CPW attesting to the inclusion of your photograph(s) in the permanent collection.

 

There is no fee for the submission of photographs to this collection.
